Quick answers.

2. Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?

In most cases, you do not need a doctor's referral to book an appointment with a physiotherapist in Ontario. You can contact our Whitby physiotherapy clinic directly to schedule an assessment. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it is always a good idea to check your individual coverage.

14. Do you offer direct billing for physiotherapy?

Direct billing may be available for eligible extended health insurance plans. Coverage varies depending on your provider and individual plan.

Our team can help answer questions about payment and insurance options before or during your visit.

15. Can I see a physiotherapist without insurance?

Yes. You do not need extended health insurance to receive physiotherapy. Patients may choose to pay privately for physiotherapy services.

5. How long is a physiotherapy appointment?

The length of your appointment may vary depending on whether it is an initial assessment or a follow-up visit. Your first appointment generally allows more time for a thorough assessment and discussion of your treatment goals.

19. What should I bring to my first appointment?

Patients may wish to bring relevant medical information, referral or prescription documents if applicable, a list of medications and information about previous injuries, surgeries or diagnostic investigations. Comfortable clothing that allows the relevant body area to be assessed may also be helpful.

35. What if my pain gets worse after treatment?

Some temporary symptom changes can occur during rehabilitation, but significant or unexpected worsening should be discussed with the treating professional. The treatment plan may need to be modified or further medical assessment may be recommended depending on the symptoms.
